Hello and welcome! The site is newly redesigned (by me, so don’t get your hopes up) with plenty of fresh material. Here’s a question for you: what do we talk about when we talk about literature? You’ll have your own answer, or maybe answers, but here’s mine: when we talk about literature, we’re really talking about the world—life, actions and their cHTRLLPonsequences, the historical and social context of our lives, how we see those things–and how all of that is represented in novels and poems and stories and plays and movies.

Please enjoy this site and feel free to contact me with suggestions for improvements, comments about my books, or questions on all things literary.

And don’t forget to look for my new book, Reading the Silver Screen, now (I so hope) in your local bookstore from HarperCollins!
